Over 70,000 words done

So I'm over 70,000 words into Book 2!

This definitely feels like a milestone. And yet I feel there are so many basic things that are still wrong with it, that I haven't figured out yet. Or obvious things that I should be emphasising and that I haven't even mentioned. But I think this is par for the course. My experience, from the last one, seems to be that you only find out what the book is really, really about ... not just the top-line description but the real heart of it ... once you've finished several drafts. Pity, but that's just the way it is ...
