I realise I haven't blogged in a while ... just over 3 weeks in fact, since publication day. Ahem. I could pretend that I've been on a 30-city tour or doing endless TV and radio interviews ... but the truth is I've been frantically writing Book 2. This is the irony: while all the fanfare might focus on Book 1, the author is normally already grappling with the next thing. It's all going well - I hope - and I know what I need to do, but the deadline is approaching very, very fast (end of August!!!) which is very scary.
So I've been spending all of my spare time doing that, and neglecting my blog. I promise to blog a bit more from now on.
In other news, did you see the Olympics opening ceremony? A and I stayed in and watched it at home, rather than going to a pub with friends, which was a good idea because it didn't finish until well after midnight. We were pretty dubious for the first 15 minutes, which looked like a dodgy school production of Lord of the Rings. But I LOVED the rest - pop music, dancing nurses, children's literature - just brilliant and a real celebration of all that's good about the UK. I also particularly liked the illuminated bicycle and later the flying one. It was also fantastic to see all the athletes come trooping in from all over the world, experiencing the culmination of all their hopes and dreams. If they can achieve all that, surely I can get my book finished on time?
